(Austin) — Yesterday, Texas House Speaker Joe Straus announced committee assignments for the 84th Legislative Session. Representative Roland Gutierrez was appointed to serve on three House Committees. Gutierrez will serve as Vice-Chairman of the House Committee on Licensing and Administrative Procedures, House Committee on Government Transparency and Operations and the House Committee on Local and Consent Calendars.
As Vice-Chairman of the House Committee on Licensing and Administrative Procedures, Representative Gutierrez will be working on legislation that pertains to businesses, industries, and occupations regulated by the state. The House Committee on Government Transparency and Operations will study government efficiency and advances in science and technology, including telecommunications, electronic technology by state agencies. The House Committee on Local and Consent Calendars Committee sets the Local and Consent Calendar for debate by the full legislative body.
